Graduation & A-G College Requirements

High School Graduation Requirements

Students shall receive diplomas of graduation from high school only after completing the prescribed course of study and meeting the proficiency standards established by the Campbell Union High School District (CUHSD). The prescribed course of study for students shall include the following: (Education Code 51225.3)
 
SUBJECT CUHSD REQUIREMENTS CREDITS
Social Science  3 years  30 credits
English  4 years  40 credits
Math  3 years  30 credits
Science  3 years  30 credits
Language other than English (LOTE)  2 years  20 credits
Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA)  1 year  10 credits
Career Technical Education (CTE) or VAPA  1 year of CTE course (unless 2 years of VAPA  completed)  10 credits 
Physical Education (PE)  2 years  20 credits
College Prep Elective  1 year  10 credits
General Electives  2 years  20 credits
 

Required for Graduation

  • Earn a minimum of 220 credits
  • Pass required courses with a grade of D or better
 
Deficient in Credits
Meet with your counselor to create a plan for credit recovery. 
 
Progress Reports and Report Cards
  • Progress reports are issued for the 6-week and 12-week grading periods per semester. 
  • Final grades are issued at the end of the semester. These grades are permanent and are recorded onto the transcripts.

A-G College Requirements

The A-G college requirements are a sequence of courses that students must complete with a grade letter of C or better to be minimally eligible for admission to the University of California (UC) and the California State University (CSU).
 
Below is a comparison of A-G college requirements and Westmont High School (CUHSD) graduation requirements. As you can see, Westmont's requirements meet or exceed the minimum admissions requirement for a UC or CSU.
