First step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CACAA for Undocumented students)  All of these applications require parents financial/tax information.

This will determine if you qualify for Need Based Aid and compute your Families Expected Contribution (FEC)

Some colleges offer this type of money automatically through the application, while others require an additional application.  Some schools offer money through foundations which require the submission of the CSS Profile application.  ONLY COMPLETE CSS Profile if REQUIRED by college

Our College and Career Specialist, Rene Klaus, collaborates with Westmont's school counselors and administrators to provide career and college support for all of our students.

We will help to answer your many college questions, as well as give you tips on how to best support your student going through the college process. We will discuss how to choose colleges, how to engage your student in the process, how to find a best fit college, tips to reduce stress and to empower your students.

College & Career Center Student Ambassadors

This year we are accepting applications from Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors 

to represent the College and Career Center (CCC) as Ambassadors. 

Applications for the following year are accepted during Spring of previous year

If you are:

- interested in being a student liaison for the CCC

- savvy with social media, design, marketing

- like to learn about colleges and career opportunities

- have a few hours a month to help out next year

 

 
 
The Westmont College and Career Center (CCC) connects students to resources for planning a "best fit" career and college path. This is a volunteer-supported forum for exchange of ideas, news, events and resources.
 
The Westmont CCC is led by our College and Career Specialist and comprised of committed parent volunteers, collaborating with Westmont’s Counselors and Administrators to provide career and college support for our students.


Westmont CCC Mission:
Westmont CCC connects students to resources for planning a "best fit" college and career path

CCC objectives are:
1. Career planning and exploration
. promote self assessment tool on Naviance
. assist students, as needed at studyhall/lunch hour
. liaison to SVCTE; promote opportunities for students
. arrange and host career speakers from a variety of occupation

2. College planning
. assist students, as needed at study hall, lunch hour and after school
. provide referral support for test prep, essays, online tools, summer programs
. refer students to resources for exploring "good fit" colleges and schools
. help students and parents explore affordable college programs such as WUE
. provide requirement deadlines for UC and Cal State college applications

3. Financial aid planning
. assist students, as needed at study hall, lunch hour and after school on Naviance, to explore financial aid resources and scholarships
. provide referral support for FASFA, FastWeb, etc.
. host FAFSA workshop with onsite help for filing application

4. Work and internship referrals
. promote Community Service opportunities for students
. liaison to businesses and non-profits for shadowing opportunities and Senior Service learning partnerships
. host job postings on WHS CCC Facebook page

5. College and Vocational School visits on WHS campus
. outreach to colleges to schedule visits
. manage college visits calendar
. promote college visit on Bulletin, Canvas, The Shield, Facebook
. manage visit on day of event

6. WHS CCC Resource Management
. supervise room during studyhall/lunch hour
. encourage computer usage for Naviance, career search, etc.
. promote resources of the CCC, via Bulletin, Canvas, The Shield, Facebook
. manage volunteers to staff the room
