Mr. Miller's Weekly Update: August 16

Westmont Community,
We are so excited to have students back on campus! We had an incredible start to our school year with WOW Week (Week of Welcome), which concluded with a lunchtime rally in the quad this past Friday.  It was great to see the smiling faces of our students and staff. A reminder to all students and families to please follow the current Covid safety protocols we have in place while on site. The District Safety Plan can be found by clicking this link District School Safety Plan
This week, we will continue with a series of lunchtime events both on campus and on Instagram. The week will be capped off with a Back to School dance on Friday, August 20 from 7-10 pm outdoors in the quad. Masks will be required at this event. We encourage you to follow us on Instagram @WestmontHS for upcoming news and recaps of recent events.
Starting tomorrow, the Black and Red ASB Packages will no longer be available. They can still be bought on our webstore all weekend. If you purchased a package and haven't yet picked up your items, please go to the student store (quad side of the library) at lunch on Monday. We will be placing a final order for any missing sizes after lunch. On Monday, all of our items are sold a la carte while supplies last. This includes the return of the $105 ASB/Yearbook only package.

Our optional Covid testing for students will start on-site after school this Wednesday. I’ve included the Westmont Testing QR Code Westmont Testing QR Code for your convenience.  Please note that parents/guardians MUST consent for their minor student to test. Students who are 18+ can consent and register for themselves. Having the parent/guardian complete the pre-registration process is the easiest way to ensure this happens, but we will also accept verbal/written consent if a parent/guardian calls, comes in person, or email. If you have specific questions regarding the testing please reach out to our Health Secretary, Tessa Corona del Conde at [email protected].

The district is continuing to offer free brunch and lunch meals to all students.  The cafeteria employs students to work during break and lunchtime. Students interested in job opportunities can apply online at We are also looking to hire and train adult candidates (non-students) to work 3.5 hour shifts during the school day. Please visit our district website at to access the online application.

And finally, please mark your calendars for our in-person Back To School Night on Wednesday, September 1st.  More info will be coming soon regarding the evening. Also, mark your calendars for the Moonlight Dinner to help raise money for Winter Wishes on September 17 and "Once Upon a Homecoming" from October 11-16.

Have a great week and Go Warriors!
