Principal's Back to School Letter 2021/22

Welcome Back! I look forward to having our students back on campus tomorrow morning for the start of the 2021 - 2022 school year.  I know we have many students who have yet to attend class on campus and may feel a mix of excitement and uncertainty.   Please know that your students will be in good hands as they come on campus.
You should have previously received a message via email and on ParentSquare regarding the safety procedures we are using. Please remember that all students and staff are required to wear masks at school, while indoors. Outdoors, students and staff may remove masks but are encouraged to be socially distant. If a student forgets a mask, they may get one from their teacher or the Student Services Center.
A couple of reminders as we kick off the school year. If your student is assigned a 0-period class they will be here daily from 7:30 - 8:20 for that class.  A majority of our students will be starting at 8:30 with a 1st or 4th-period class. I’ve attached the A/B calendar as well as the Bell Schedule for your convenience.  If your student is being dropped off in the morning I would highly recommend that your student arrives before 8:15 to avoid the traffic on Westmont Avenue.
In regards to after-school pickup, I would recommend that parents/guardians park in the student lot and wait for students to come to them.  This will allow cars to exit the student lot and miss the bus loop traffic. In addition, students can be picked up further down Westmont Avenue to avoid dismissal traffic.  Please be aware that the front turn-in area is coned off after school for pedestrian safety and is not available for student pick up.
For all our new families, you will notice a 25 minute Study Hall period on all A and B days. This period is designed to allow students to get additional support for their classes. Generally, students may go to one of their assigned teachers during this period to get support. However, please note that for Wednesday and Thursday this week, all students will return to their 1st (A day) or 4th (B day) period class to attend study hall so that teachers may discuss beginning of the year items.
And lastly, we are currently finishing up the balancing of classes and hope to finish this process by next week. We do understand that this can be disruptive for some students and we appreciate your patience. We strongly encourage students to check Aeries for their most up-to-date class schedule, beginning tomorrow morning, as it may have changed from the printed schedule that was picked up last week. Counselors have received numerous requests from students regarding their schedules and they are responding as quickly as possible.

Here’s to a great year!

Go Warriors!
