Principal's Message About Phased Learning

Hello Westmont Families,

We are very excited that April 12th is the first day that a targeted group of students will be returning to campus for in-person instruction, with more students returning to campus starting the week of April 26th. For families that have chosen to have students attend in-person instruction, the students have been divided into two stable cohorts: Westmont and Warriors. The Westmont cohort will attend in-person instruction on Mondays and Tuesdays, while the Warrior cohort will attend on Thursdays and Fridays. Families will receive a separate email via SchoolMessenger with specific information regarding which stable cohort their student has been placed in. When not on campus, all students will continue to attend classes online. All student class schedules will remain the same during the in-person and at home days. Please check your student’s schedule on Aeries (click here to login) as some classrooms may have changed but most teachers will remain the same. For classes where in-person instruction is not being offered or the maximum capacity for in-person instruction has been reached, students will report to the library for that period to login to their class. For families that have chosen to remain with Distance Learning, please review the new Daily Bell Schedule, as this will affect all students. If families wish to switch from Distance Learning to in-person, they will need to contact the main office at 408-626-3406 to be put on a wait list. For families wishing to change from in-person to Distance Learning, they will also need to contact the main office at 408-626-3406, but will be removed immediately.

CLICK HERE to view the Westmont High School Parent/Guardian Guide to Phased Return to In-Person Instruction or see the attached document to view it as a PDF in english y HAGA CLIC AQUI para leer el documento español. This guide will contain information regarding the new daily bell schedule, health and safety guidelines, break time and lunch expectations, and more. As a reminder, please check the new daily bell schedule to familiarize yourself with the updated schedule. During lunch, students will be able to pick up a free ‘Grab-n-Go’ lunch from one of the food distribution carts, or they may bring their own.

Campus will be open starting at 8:30 am for students to check in. When entering campus, students will be required to use one of three entrances: the gate by room 1 near the bus loop, the main office gates, and the side gate by room 12. Students with a zero period will be allowed to enter campus at the main office gates only starting at 7:20 am. Each of the entry areas will have a health screening station where students will need to show proof of completion of the daily health screening from ParentSquare. Please be on the lookout for a separate invitation email to create a ParentSquare account for you and an account for your student. Also, we encourage all parents to download the ParentSquare app, and students to download the StudentSquare app, which are available for both iOS and Android.

Upon entry on their first day, each student will be issued a lanyard with a reusable bathroom pass and QR code for the daily health screener. This reusable bathroom pass will be placed on the bathroom doors in a holder while the bathroom is being used. This will allow students to monitor social distancing within the restrooms.

And lastly, I would like to thank our staff, students, families and community for the patience and support while we have worked through this extraordinary year.  It will be great to see our students back on campus in their classrooms, socializing with a small group of friends while practicing social distancing and hopefully having a smile on their faces under their masks as they walk the hallways of Westmont.

Welcome Back and Go Warriors!
