Girls' Soccer

Varsity Coach:  Scott Hughes
JV Coach:  Duane Zanardelli
This is my fourth year with the Westmont Warriors Girls Soccer program and I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with our student-athletes and care for the school that provided my own kids with a great high school experience.
Tryouts will take place at the beginning of November, and we plan to have two teams, the Varsity, and Junior Varsity (JV) teams. Both teams usually train at the same time and location throughout the season. Please be sure have your physical completed prior to tryouts.
Since we are not a Fall season sport, I really don't expect the players to participate in a off-season conditioning program. I hope those that are either playing with their club team or participating in a fall sport at Westmont will take care of their conditioning at that time.
I do however believe players must continue to work on their technical abilities, and not all "club" coaches subscribe that that philosophy.  There are many good "self-help" videos available on the web, and I have been partial to the teachings of David Copeland-Smith of Beast Mode Soccer.  He has worked with many different players including Christen Press, Alex Morgan, and Rachel Daly.
I like the 12 Essential Footwork Drills (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5l7A8H96MIA&t=233s)
The 9-Minute Blast is also a good one, and allows the player to follow along on their phone - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvtdUIEQ6Qw
But if you have not done any of Beast Mode exercises, you could also begin with Phase 1 thru 4 until your daughter feels comfortable with the exercises.
Additionally, working on finishing is always great practice, and so times more fun than footwork. :)
Please feel free to reach out anytime.
I'm looking forward to a fun and successful season!
