Seniors: This page contains all links and updates that you need in order to have a successful end of the year

#9 (6/1)

Don’t miss the Tribute to the Seniors tonight at 8pm! It is my favorite of all of the videos we have released throughout the month.

We are so excited to celebrate our seniors at our Drive Through Graduation on Wednesday, June 3. If you did not complete the Graduation Survey, it is not too late to participate as a drive through celebrant. We do need you to complete the survey ASAP so that we know how to pronounce your name. (Follow this link to the list of people that have completed the graduation survey as of 6/1 at 2:00pm)

Last week, students received an email from EnVision on their school Gmail addresses asking them to submit information for the Graduation website that will host the synchronous streaming of our graduation video on June 12 at 6pm. Please be sure to respond quickly so that we can build the graduation website. The final deadline to respond is June 2. To complete the form, we only need your quote and photo. Please submit a photo that is semi-formal or professional looking. It should be fairly close up. Suggestions include senior photo, sports photos, or photos taken in your cap and gown.

Seniors are able to bring their immediate families with them and are encouraged to decorate their cars. During your scheduled arrival time, each senior will exit their car and families will be able to watch their senior walk across a stage and have their name announced. At this point, the senior will re-enter their car, pick up their diploma, and exit campus.

Upon arrival, you will need to have your Graduate sign completed in bold, clear letters (marker preferred) and placed in the passenger side dashboard. It needs to remain there the entire time you are on campus for this event.

We will have multiple videographers filming different aspects of the graduation day. As well, Now and Forever Studios will take a professional photograph of each senior on the stage. We would like to thank the Grad Night committee for purchasing a 5”x7” of this professional photograph for each senior.

We have hired a videography company to create a website honoring Westmont seniors. The link is: westmonths.envisiongraduations.com if you are sending out any announcements. Each student will be able to add a section to the website that includes photos and memories. The email request for this has gone out - have your students check their Gmail to complete their information by June 2.

The company will edit a video from graduation day that will include the traditional elements of graduation - the Principal’s welcome, graduation speeches, and awards. It will be live streamed on June 12 at 6pm on the same website so that we have a time to simultaneously celebrate each other together. I have included a list of ideas of how to make the graduation viewing special. During the group viewing, we ask seniors to put on their caps and gowns again for a synchronized cap toss and submit their photos to @WestmontHS Instagram.

Per county regulations, the following guidelines are in place:

  • No spectators are allowed at this event. This includes on the sidewalk - please help us to not get this event shut down by discouraging this. Only the seniors will be exiting the car.
  • Each senior is limited to one car - the car that they are riding in. The car’s occupants are limited to their immediate family that they currently live with. Because of the sharp u-turn in the route and the fact that hired drivers do not currently live with you, we are unable to accommodate limos, party busses, or any other similar vehicle.
  • Multiple seniors cannot arrive in the same car unless they currently live together.
  • Masks are strongly encouraged.
  • If a student or family member is feeling ill, has a fever, or a cough, we cannot have you participate in this celebration. Arrangements will be made at a later date to pick up your diploma.

We also want to acknowledge that it is important to us to be able to come together as a senior class when it is possible. In conjunction with the Grad Night committee, we will be planning a senior class reunion during the next major school break after social distancing has been relaxed and we are able to have an event of that size.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  1. Are we really only allowed one car? I know that this is a burden for some families, but unfortunately the answer is yes in order to be compliant with the county’s regulations.
  2. Are we allowed to decorate our caps? Yes you are! Here are the rules to follow:
    1. All decorations need to be SCHOOL APPROPRIATE
    2. All decorations need to be 2-D. Nothing can be built up from the top, out from the sides, or hanging off your cap.
    3. Any cap deemed inappropriate will be confiscated and you will be provided with a blank cap to wear at graduation.

Upcoming Events:

June 1: Senior Tribute video released at 8pm

June 3: Celebration of Graduates

June 12: Live Streaming of Graduation at 6pm

June TBA: Yearbook Distribution (Delayed from the company due to the pandemic)

#8 (5/27)

We are so excited to celebrate our seniors at our Drive Through Graduation on June 3. If you did not complete the Graduation Survey, it is not too late to participate as a drive through celebrant. We do need you to complete the survey ASAP so that we know how to pronounce your name. I have updated the “Drive Through Graduation” document with graduation appointment times, an updated map, a name sign you must include in your car window, and more details. Please check out the document.

Yesterday, students received an email from EnVision on their school Gmail addresses asking them to submit information for the Graduation website that will host the synchronous streaming of our graduation video on June 12 at 6pm.

Last Friday was cap and gown distribution. If you were unable to come, you can pick it up at Senior Drop Off Day on May 29. Seniors will be assigned a time by alpha to complete the following: Drop off textbooks, drop off any other Westmont supplies including classroom library books, Westmont library books, sports uniforms, etc., pick up the contents of their lockers, pick up panoramic pictures not picked up earlier this year, or pick up any awards won at senior awards night. Please read the linked information for your arrival time and other directions. We changed up the driving path from what we did for cap and gown distribution.

Graduation Caps may be decorated. Please adhere to the following guidelines:

Grad Night is organizing a shirt fundraiser to raise money for two causes. Proceeds from the Westmont shirt, designed by Emiko Yamabe, will support Grad Night in raising funds for the future Class of 2020 reunion when we can all come together again. The Unified 2020 shirt is in our school colors, but matches a shirt sold by multiple other high schools in the district. The profit from each Unified 2020 shirt sold by Westmont will go to the Kirk Vasquez Memorial Foundation. When you open the flier, click on the photos of the shirts to place an order by 5/27.

Two very special videos will be released in the next week. One is a tribute from seniors to their supporters (5/28) and the other is a Tribute to the Seniors (6/1). Both videos will be released at 8pm.

The San Jose Vice-Mayor, Charles “Chappie” Jones, wrote a letter of congratulations to each senior. You are welcome to download your letter as a keepsake. We were also sent a video from the Golden State Warriors as a congratulations to all Bay Area seniors.

Upcoming Events:

May 28: Senior video to their supporters released at 8pm

May 29: Drop Off Day

June 1: Senior Tribute video released at 8pm

#7: (5/19)

We are so excited to celebrate our seniors at our Drive Through Graduation on June 3. By Friday, we need you to respond to our Graduation Survey so that we can make appropriate plans. If we don’t have a response from you by Friday, we will be unable to accommodate any walk-through requests. The explanation page is a living document so I will be able to add a FAQ section and more details as we move forward. (Follow this link to the list of people that have completed the graduation survey as of 5/22 at 10:16pm)

Students will also be receiving an email from EnVision on their school Gmail addresses asking them to submit information for the Graduation website that will host the synchronous streaming of our graduation video on June 12 at 6pm. Please be sure to respond quickly so that we can build the graduation website.

Last night we premiered the Class of 2020 Decision Day video on You Tube Premiere. At the bottom of this email, you can see the upcoming videos that we are showing over the next few weeks. Once I have them, I will update the events with links to the videos. You can find the links to synchronously watch with us on the Class of 2020 page on our website or on Instagram @WestmontHS.

This Friday, May 22 is Cap and Gown Distribution. Caps and Gowns will be available from 8-11am, but students must come at their assigned time. If a student is unable to come at their assigned time due to AP testing, another family member can come in their place or you can  me know so that I can accommodate with a different time.

Yard signs that were ordered should have been delivered. If you did not receive a yard sign for whatever reason, we have extras on Friday that will be available during Cap and Gown Distribution.  If you have any textbooks that you are already done with, we would be glad to collect them at this time as well.

#2: (4/13)

In recognition of our seniors, Westmont ASB would like to sponsor a Westmont Graduate Yard Sign for every member of the Class of 2020.. All signs will be delivered to seniors' front lawns or porches in May. All deliveries will be contactless (the default delivery will be the sign showing up in your lawn or on your porch - you will have the opportunity to provide further instructions for a contactless delivery if needed). Because delivery involves giving out your address, you MUST OPT-IN to receive a yard sign by completing the Graduate Yard Sign Opt In Form no later than April 28. As an FYI, we will be sharing a list of seniors' addresses with the deliverers, but will not be sharing the names associated with the addresses.

A huge thank you to the Grad Night Committee, who will be coordinating parent volunteers to deliver the signs. Pick up and delivery of the signs will take place in May and will be completely contactless. If you are willing to serve on the delivery committee, please indicate this on your form.

Congratulations to the class of 2020!
